Sookie!

I don't have the clear mind to write a real post. Meanwhile, here's what's been happening on the TV.

There's been some real news in the world, like an escalating war in Afghanistan, and Biden admitting the government is just throwing money away, and hundreds dead in China for who-knows-what (something about--well, it's a very offensive term for white people who pretend to be black people, something like that), and a military coup next door, and the woman who could have been President gave a speech about basketball. But according to the news channels, nothing came close to the news that Michael Jackson was still dead.

Seriously, all news channels giving us the entire live broadcast of the memorial with hours of post-memorial commentary. And God help me, I turn to Fox News out of desperation, and they have a story about parents of a soldier who died in Iraq the same day Michael Jackson died, and the parents are upset that no one even talks about dead soldiers anymore.

And I have to admit Fox News has finally got something right. (even though Fox News is guilty of pushing this country into this war in the first place, but that's kinda beside the point).

And Caillou. What the fuck is up with him? Why is he bald? Is he sick? Shit drives me crazy. Oh, it's actually the first question on caillou.com FAQ page. I guess I'm not alone after all.

And going back to Michael Jackson. MSNBC, every time you talk about him you're going to bring out this tool? His name is Toure. There's supposed to be a little whatchamacallit line above the E, but who gives a fuck. Toure, you missed a button. And who died and left you with no last name, wanker?

Going back to Sprout Channel, how great are the Pajanimals?

Speaking of True Blood, I got someone here who Googled "Is Alexander Skarsgard gay?" For the record, I don't know.

And then I turn to one of them Nickelodeon channels, and I start watching this hideous cartoon about monsters or something, and I'm thinking about the way childrens' TV nowadays is destroying the minds of a generation, and how in my day things were different, but then I realize it's the funniest thing I've ever seen. I couldn't find it on the TV schedule now, but there are TV episodes here.

And here's one of the original web videos:

I like it when you let your OCD show :)

As for the toon I guess I had to be there to appreciate it?

Also it seems most of your viewing is decided by your son. Good.

Last night when I was at dinner with friends they said there was hours and hours and hours of Michael Jackson on all day and that there would be more all that night. And I was a little bit afraid that I would get home and not be able to escape all the Michael Jackson coverage. But then we got home and went to bed. And I remembered that we don't have television at home, so I didn't have to worry about it after all.

That's good that the focus groups aren't being traumatized by Caillou's lack of hair.

These cartoons look awesome! Going to watch these...

As for MJ, I don't really get it, I don't know why... he seemed like a pariah for so long, the possible child molesting stuff was not good. Media is going bananas over this death, ridiculous. There is always money to be made, guess that's the thing.

That bald kid sure has a nice skull!

Most Republicans don't believe this, but Reagan is still dead as well. Cheers PITS!!

SJ, what do you mean? It has a little girl who makes monsters and talks in an Eastern European accent. What could be perfecter?

Oh, he determines everything but True Blood. That one belongs to his parents.

Jill, yes, they had repeats. I have nothing but respect for my childhood hero, but the motherfucker is dead, and you're a news channel.

And that is a weird explanation, right? Just looking for the answer yesterday, I found hundreds of people who were bothered by that. My baby says Caillou, though, and he doesn't say too many words, so I'm happy to watch that. But I wish he had some hair. He makes me uncomfortable.

Sebastien, oh yea, it is actually a lot like your style. Cool. Try the online versions on YouTube and the cleaner, longer versions on the Nickelodeon site. And the show is still on. I just didn't look hard enough.

And they're really Jesus-ing it up, basically saying he died from the stress of dealing with a world that didn't accept him. Died for our sins, in other words.

Ellie, c-sectioned, I'm sure.

Matt, he's alive in the hearts of teabaggers everywhere.

Yeah, our society frightens me sometimes. But it provides for lots of laughs as well...

ooooh, I likey your template.

Sookie bugs the bejesus out of me.

People in the Sun said...

Sebastien, yea... You're right. I suppose a lot of things that annoy me don't really have any relevance to my life. Why should I care if MSNBC decides to worship Michael Jackson for a week?

Blues, oh, thank you thank you. I'm glad.

And Sookie would have bugged the bejesus out of me too if it weren't for the tight white shirts she likes to wear.

Oh, now that you've exposed me to Making Fiends, I want to buy the first season on amazon. How can I rationalize such an unnecessary purchase?

People in the Sun said...

When the fiends attack, guess who'll be prepared? The people who bought the DVD, that's who.

Fox News-- the channel which gives the U.S. a bad name--
it's the only American news channel in Australia, no wonder they think we're a bunch of blabbering idiots.

People in the Sun said...

It's the only one on basic cable in Israel (other than Sky News, which is the same thing with a different accent). I wonder how they do that...

I'll have to ask my husband about Skarsgard. Swedes seem to have inherent knowledge of each other. It's eerie.

People in the Sun said...

There's a Swedish version of the gaydar?
