Snow would have been nice. It was freezing and nasty, though, so that's something. Still, this year there was no blacks-whites fight after the parade.
And you know, I think about being a dad in Baltimore. I mean, I like the city--it has parades with people with fiery hats and it has sad Ravens fans, but look at that guy in the fourth picture--he's clearly looking for a fight (if only to get warm). I don't know. It's probably too soon to think about that.
Well, when I almost moved onto a parade route my dad was like, "Life's more than a parade" or something like that. Still, there's something to be said for "interesting." Seriously, those suburbs...
Durante, oh, he was just a teenage thug-wannabe, like most teenagers in the neighborhood. The uniform for teenagers here is very strict: a long white shirt and a backward cap during the summer, and an open puffy jacket during the winter. The girls also have a couple of accessories: a cigarette in one hand and a stroller in the other. Welcome to Baltimore. And a happy new year!
Jill, these weren't taken from my house but I live close. And even with the insanity of Baltimore city life, I still would prefer living here than in a suburb. I like having choices: there's a fist fight outside the 7-11, and there's a junkie blocking the door to the Royal Farms. So, do I go to one of these places or drive all the way to Giant Supermarket and risk listening to Christmas music?
Is that dude on the little bike wearing camoflage Ravens gear?
Throw on some different colors and I would swear that guy lives here!
I hope you and your family had a nice holiday but it is nothing compared to the next couple of years when Liam is a little older. Those years are the best.
Thanks for stopping by! Oh...and regarding all the choices, I pick the junkie for sure. Christmas music is SCARY! Congrats on Liam. He is beautiful. As far as his pi pi...it will heal just fine. And better now than later , like my friend's son who had to do it when her son was 3 because of problems.
Ajooja, yep. These were the days before the loss to Miami. Before the Goof on the Roof proved to be a deadbeat. When a man was able to climb his tiny bike and shout to the world, "I'm a fan."
Woozie, it's all in your head.
ANO, be careful. I will make you babysit when we go to Atlantic City.
Aimeepalooza, funny, but that was actually my choice, too. And thanks for the congrats. I didn't particularly like the idea of doing it but the alternative seemed worse. I actually heard of someone who had to do it when he was in his seventies. I have shivers just thinking about it. And a happy new year.
Oh my that is some parade going on there. I think I need to get down to Baltimore for the spectacle. It's almost more loopy than NYC and I did not think that was possible..
Cooper, that's Baltimore, good and bad. I mean, you have the cultural diversity (to a point), but you also have the thug-wannabees. And you have the parade but you also have block-by-block segregation.
Ricardo, it's loopy in a different way. There are some good street festivals in this neighborhood during the summer, but I've always worked on weekends. Maybe this year... And Artscape is fun. And Camden Yards. And the harbor. And my neighborhood is cool. In a could-have-been-cool-if-the-racists-all-died-or-just-moved kind of way.

Where's the snow!?
Hope you have an excellent new year, "dad." ^^

You have a good new year, too.
Was the guy (looking for a fight) cute?
You're hinting at how you view things differently now that you have a child. Loving this!
Merry Christmas PitS!

Loz, you too, Sir. Have a great 2008.
So is Philly. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Merry Christmas to you and your family and a Happy New Year!
Apparently, Baltimore is also blurry...
Enemy, Let's, thanks. And have a great 2008. I plan on quitting my job in 2008, so it already looks good.
Monkey, I'm decades ahead of my time with my artistic pictures. Blurry will soon be the new focused.

Yup, that is Baltimore alright. ;)

AHA! I knew Elvis was alive and living in Baltimore no less! Now I just need to track down Marilyn, JFK and Tupac.
That's how I've always imagined him: ageless, happy, and dry. And wearing a Ravens scarf.
