So What's New in My Life?

It’s funny how you live your life and go with the flow or sometimes actively pursue goals as if you know what's good and bad, and you move from one place to another and buy things and leave things behind, and you love and you hate and you attach a meaning to everything, and you go to school and learn to think only to find out you know nothing, and you smoke and you quit and you smoke and you quit and you smoke, and you grow a beard then shave it, and even a mustache for a while, just for fun, and you get slightly older each day, funny how that works, and the pieces of the puzzle, and pardon the cliche, start coming together only to form a greater unknown.

And now you're in your mid-30s thinking you've established something. You’re married and you have that house, and you have the doggies and more books than you’ll ever read (but not in a pretentious way, you’re simply a slow reader), and finally a stable job and you have the closest thing you’ve ever had to a schedule, and you sit back and relax and think you’re finally in control.

But you never really know when something amazing is going to happen.

Loving that People in the Sun Jr. tag!

Congratulations! How exciting! I can't even imagine...

Whatever you do, don't name it after Mr. Fab. Name it after me, that's the sensible thing to do.

Congratulations!

Thanks for the little line of code for when you hold the pointer over the image and the word "Pregnant" shows up, otherwise I never would have gotten it.

People in the Sun said...

Thanks everyone. I couldn't have done it without you.

Now, Mr. Fab and Sebastien, first I was going to call it after the Hebrew word for Hope (Chahachadiduvufikuchchch), which is charming whether it's a boy or a girl. Then I considered your wishes and realized maybe I could make some money here. I put the opportunity to name the baby on eBay, so right now if it's a boy I will call him Pepsico and if it's a girl--Taco Belle.

Now it's time to pass the tub of coleslaw to someone else young jedi

Just found this blog...but love the announcement. Great build up. I never saw it coming. Congratulations, on both great writing and the new up and coming addition!

People in the Sun said...

Thanks everyone. You were all in my thoughts when it happened.

A special thanks to Spooky, without whom none of it would have been possible.

Thanks, Shelli. It does rock.

Jennifer, thanks and welcome. I hope I don't disappoint you in later posts. It's not every day I can come up with something like that... In fact, I'm not even going to try. From now on all posts will be about American Idol.

Anji said...

I heard your news at Spooky's; congratulations!

Cor Blimey Governor!!

Thats smashing news!

Is there such a thing as a stable life? If you keep things in order it seems that something will 'disrupt' things.

I good and bad ways . . . I liked the build up speech!

People in the Sun said...

Thanks Anji and Ak-Man. I suppose there is no such thing as a stable life, but we all like the illusion. In a way, a "disruption" is almost always good because it keeps us alert and alive.

Just droppedn in via BlogSoldiers, so you don't know me from Adam, but I have heard some bad things about these ClearBlue digital tests -- they have a HUGE false-positive percentage! I have read teh blogs of several women who have gotten false positives -- including men and young children testing positive (just to test it out), which is virtually unheard of with most home pg tests. As soon as the holiday is over, run out and get a cheapo store-brand stick to pee on and confirm it. Because sound like you are really excited for this, and I hope it isn't false!!!

People in the Sun said...

Oh, thank you, Gem. Actually we've already been to the doctor and heard the heartbeat and everything. But I appreciate you taking the time to write this. And I don't know anyone from Adam, but you're always welcome here.

American Idol huh...Can't even pick a cool show to blog about. I'll still be back in case you change your mind.

I'll dig around and try to see how you got to my blog, but thanks for stopping by.

This post was great *before* you got to the ending. Very cool. Congratulations.

I'll be back.

that was The Most Awesomest pregnancy announcement i've ever heard/read/seen/been aware of. :) i just found out in april that i'm pregnant as well so i most definitely empathize with your excitement. and i live by your closing statement: "but you never really know when something amazing is going to happen." :)

Awww, congrats! I hope everything goes well!

Yes, amazing. Congratulations!

oh how neat! (that we're both due around the same time...)

i definitely know what you mean -- some people don't "get" blogging. it's a terrific outlet for me though, so i could care less. ;) happy blogging!

People in the Sun said...

Jennifer, don't go. I was joking. The next post will be about "Lost" theories. Is it time to bring back the Polar Bears? Is Jacob real? Also, when I flip channels, why do I always end up watching MTV's "Next"?

ajooja, I was doing a Google search for a "Naked man who says too much." It's a long story.

(Actually I was just looking through some of the links on Pointless Drivel. But I'll be back too).

Some0girl, thanks and congratulations. I don't know what else to say. You're comment was very nice.

ANO, thanks. Now, if I remember correctly, you live in Baltimore, so I'm counting on you to do some babysitting (when me and Honey go to Atlantic City to double-or-nothing the college fund).

Susan, thank you thank you thank you.

Some0girl, I can't keep up with your comments! Good luck with the blogging and with the upcoming adventure. And congratulations again.

Well this is great news! Get all the sleep now while you can! The next great chapter in your life begins! I can't wait to read the stories on fatherhood.

Good morning, just wanted to introduce myself and not be a blogger-stalker, but i think your blog is charming and i'm very excited for you. i have a three-month-old and here's some bad news for you especially: this is the last time in your life where you will have two hands for typing. Just wanted to let you know this. People didn't warn me about THAT! The only time you can type freely is when Jr. is napping, and then the phone rings or the toilet needs cleaning, etc. So enjoy this last bit of typing freedom:)

People in the Sun said...

Ms. Minx, thank you for that. I'm glad you found me too! And your blog is gorgeouser.

Ricardo, I wonderif this will become a blog about fatherhood. But you know, wherever this thing goes it goes. Maybe I'll win the Bloggers Choice Award for hottest daddy?

Pianomomsicle, you're welcome any time you want, and thanks for that. Congratulations to you too (for the little guy and for starting a blog). And as for my Jr., the one-hand typing is going to be very temporary. I plan on sending him to work in the coal mines when he's five.

That little guy you have on your site is really cute.

Kali said...

As a Mom with a three year old, its the best think that is yet to come into your life! I pray he/she is healthy and happy!

Ricardo said...

The Bloggers choice award would be great! I got nominated for that BTW. Not daddy but the blogitzer award. Be sure to vote for me!

People in the Sun said...

Kali, thank you for that. It's still crazy and scary, but it also feels amazing and profound.

Ricardo, not sure they have a Hottest Daddy award. They should have one, no? Maybe I should start a campaign... I still have a few months.

Didn't Frank Zappa name his daughter Pepsi? I know for sure he named one of his daughter's Moonunit. That's a personal favorite of mine.

If I have a son, I will name him Lampontable. If I have a girl, I guess I can call her Lampontable too, or Dentinrail, or Bookonfloor. I could go on like this all day....

People in the Sun said...

As it was probably conceived during a Daily Show commercial break maybe I'll call it "Active On"?

SJ said...

Let's see- was this posted so long back I should be congratulating the new parents? N/ Good. So congrats (should I say many more happy returns of the day LOL).

I am 30, single, no house, no beard, no mush, no pets, am a very fast reader... I do have too stable a job. I most certainly don't feel like I am in control.

Dave said...

/hands a cigar of the finest vintage your way.

Please allow me to give you the same advice that was given to me.

Cherish every moment, because before you know it, he/she will be grown up.

I can attest to this being true. My daughter is 8 now, and it feels like she was born only 2 or 3 years ago.

People in the Sun said...

SJ, it's coming in November so you're not too late (but I'm not naming it SJ). And as for being in control, I know it's an illusion anyway. It's always been that way. Nothing wrong with not being in control as long as you put up a worthy fight.

Dave, thanks for that cigar. I honestly, and I say that with all my fears and doubts, can't wait for the little one to come out already. I will cherish every moment.

Dan said...

Bit late to this, but nevertheless - congratulations

lol... Congrats! Your is Blue.. mine is pink.. does that mean u will have a boy and I will have a girl? :) My baby is going to be an Aries (groan)

People in the Sun said...

Asian, the stick in the picture is blue but I think we had at least three different ones, just to make sure, and I'm saving the first one she tried when I was still at work.

But the original stick is purple. What's that mean?

And he's supposed to be a Sagittarius, which means (I've just checked) intellectual and philosophical. Yes. I don't like the outdoors either!
