My Weekend Round Up - Wesley Snipes Included

A quick recap after getting a new job, a visit to New Orleans, and a Christmas parade. Finally time to look at the news:
- Hastert has been negligent, but apparently not criminally negligent. You can't be responsible for stuff when you turn your head the other way, can you?
- Bush does an impersonation of the three monkeys by putting his hands on his eyes, his ears, and his mouth when the Iraq Study Group Report comes up.
- Conservative bloggers leave their mouths open. They don't like the report; it seems to contradict the idea that God put Bush in the White House. It contradicts the idea that the US is invincible.
- Speaking of USA Number One: The U.S. has the most prisoners in the world.
- Wesley Snipes?
- Fiji, anyone?
- As part of his final farewell world tour, Rumsfeld says a victory depends on staying power. Immediately after his speech, he gets the hell out.
Wish me luck on my new job. In return, I will wish you luck. One hand washes another. Reciprocity is what this world is all about.

May your job be everything you wish it to be.
Happy Monday!
Thank you. The job is interesting and challenging. For now.
Happy Monday to you too.
Good luck with the job! The incarcerated rate stat blew my mind when I heard about that. Very sad... land of freedom, liberty?
Sebastien, actually that has a lot to do with my new job... Well, some people say reform only works from within. (Not that my entry-level position carries any weight, but maybe with time).
Wow, I didn't know that your new job was in that field. It must be very difficult, but I wish you the best and don't worry, to be effective I think it starts from the bottom up, not the other way around.
Yep... In January, after my training, I'll start working in a jail. Not sure about the rules of blogging about working there. But I'll do my job, try to remain human, and see if I can do anything to make things better. It's obviously (for me, at least) all about the insane drug war. I met some ignorant people in absurd positions of power over others, and I also met people who know US jails house addicts instead of violent criminals, but the Country has a long way to go before more people understand that. If anything, this job may push me to get involved... We'll see.
